Repair vs. Replacement
Getting a new roof doesn’t have to be stressful. Most homeowners in Temple, Belton, and across Central Texas come to us with two questions:
We answer both of those honestly, upfront — before you ever commit to anything.
Some Roofs Can Be Repaired. Some Can’t. We’ll Tell You Which.

ROAM Roof & Solar offers a full range of residential roofing services to Temple homeowners. From full roof replacements to storm damage repairs — we handle it all with the same veteran-standard of quality and care.
Why Roam
On the evening of May 22, 2024, an EF-2 tornado tore through West Temple with 120 mph winds — destroying hundreds of homes in Lake Pointe and Lake Pointe Terrace. ROAM Roof & Solar was tarping roofs in that neighborhood the same night the storm hit. While debris was still being cleared from West Adams Avenue, our team was already on rooftops protecting homes from further damage. In the weeks that followed, we completed hundreds of roof replacements across Lake Pointe, Westfield, and surrounding West Temple neighborhoods. For us this wasn’t just a job — our kids go to Little Einsteins Daycare in Temple, a school directly affected by the tornado. Our project manager Garrett Mueller, business development manager Aimee, and customer success manager Jonathan all live here. We had friends and neighbors in those neighborhoods. We were there that night because this is our community.
What we’ve seen working across Temple’s neighborhoods has shaped how we approach every inspection. In newer South Temple developments like Wyndham Hill, Echo Village, and Alta Vista — homes built between 2010 and 2022 — we’ve found a consistent pattern of builder-grade 3-tab shingles that were high-nailed, meaning nails were driven above the reinforcement strip. This dramatically reduces wind resistance and causes shingles to lift and blow off even in moderate storms. Many homeowners in these neighborhoods assume their relatively new roof is fine — until a Central Texas hailstorm proves otherwise. In older neighborhoods like Canyon Creek and near Scott & White Medical Center, we’re typically seeing roofs that have reached or exceeded their original lifespan and need honest assessment.
ROAM is proud to be part of the Temple community beyond the work we do on rooftops. We’re a stage sponsor for Bold Republic Brewing’s West Temple concert series — a fellow community-first business located at Crossroads Park in Westfield. We sponsor Rucks on Main, a biannual veteran ruck march that supports veteran nonprofits and local food pantries. And we support local organizations including Angel Tree and groups that serve Temple’s law enforcement community. When you hire ROAM, you’re hiring a company that was here before the storm and will be here long after

Frequently Asked Questions — Roofing in Temple TX
Roof replacement costs in Temple vary depending on your roof’s size, pitch, material choice, and condition of the existing decking. Rather than publish prices that change with the market, we built an instant quote tool that gives you a real estimate based on your specific home — get yours in under 2 minutes.
Yes — we offer flexible financing options including same-day approval and zero-interest options so Temple homeowners can get the roof their home needs without the financial stress. Ask about financing when you get your free inspection or instant quote.
It depends on the extent of the damage and the age of your roof. Isolated damage — a few missing shingles, a small leak, flashing issues — is usually repairable. If your roof is over 20 years old, has widespread damage, or has multiple failing areas, replacement is often the smarter long-term investment. A free ROAM inspection will give you an honest answer with no pressure either way.
If you’re losing shingles regularly in wind, the most common cause is high nailing — a builder installation error where nails are driven above the reinforcement strip on the shingle instead of through it. This dramatically reduces wind resistance and is common in builder-grade roofs installed in South Temple neighborhoods like Wyndham Hill, Echo Village, and Alta Vista between 2010 and 2022. A free ROAM inspection will identify whether high nailing or another installation issue is causing the problem.
ACV stands for Actual Cash Value — your insurance pays what your roof is worth today after depreciation, not what it costs to replace it. RCV stands for Replacement Cost Value — your insurance pays the full cost to replace your roof with a comparable new one. Most homeowners don’t know which policy they have until they file a claim. ROAM can review your policy with you and help you understand exactly what you’re entitled to before you ever call your adjuster.
After storm damage, document everything with photos before any repairs are made, then contact your insurance company to open a claim. ROAM will inspect your roof, provide detailed photo documentation your adjuster needs, and work directly with your insurance company throughout the process. We’ve helped hundreds of Central Texas homeowners navigate this successfully — including after the May 2024 Temple tornado.
